Daily learning in two languages
From their very first days, children count, listen to stories, sing, play, and make sense of the world in two languages. They quickly discover that there is more than one way to name the world and more than one way to understand it. That perspective shapes how they think, communicate, and connect with people and ideas for the rest of their lives.
Students spend half of each day learning in English and half immersed in either Chinese or Spanish. In each classroom, an English-language teacher and a Mandarin or Spanish-language teacher work alongside an additional target-language teacher, creating a truly bilingual environment throughout the day. Core areas of learning—including literacy, math, art, and World Course—are experienced in both languages.
Our curriculum highlights
By the end of kindergarten, students leave the Early Learning Center with strong academic foundations, growing independence and the ability to learn, think and communicate across two languages.

Inquiry-based, purposeful learning
Walk through our halls and you’ll find every classroom exploring something a little different. That’s by design.
At Avenues, children’s questions and interests help shape the learning, while expert teachers guide each inquiry toward clear curricular and developmental goals.
In kindergarten, for example, students begin with the question Who am I? Through our Identity inquiry, students explore what makes each person unique, reflecting on the parts of themselves others can easily see and the qualities, experiences, and feelings that emerge through relationships and conversation.
As their understanding deepens, students extend that learning into Self-Expression Through the Arts, exploring different media and choosing meaningful ways to share their identities with the broader community through movement, visual arts, drama, and music. Along the way, they build self-awareness, strengthen communication and creative thinking, engage with diverse perspectives, and meet important learning goals across disciplines.

Our teachers & our facilities
Educators who know how young children learn
Every immersion classroom pairs an English-speaking teacher with a Chinese- or Spanish-speaking teacher and a third bilingual teacher— all early-childhood specialists trained to build a truly bilingual day. They are the reason a rigorous program still feels like joy.
Our space: designed for young learners
Our facilities were purpose-built for our program, with paired classrooms where children move between English and their immersion language, plus a landscaped playground, a teaching kitchen, and a movement studio, all in the heart of West Chelsea.
