Community engagement and service learning are important components of the Avenues experience, and critical to our mission of graduating future world-wise leaders uniquely equipped to understand and solve global-scale problems.

LEARNING & VOLUNTEERING

Serving our neighborhood

LEAP is the name of our extracurricular learning and volunteering program, and one of the ways we serve our local community. Through LEAP, we welcome adults and children from the Jardim Panorama Community to our campus for after-school classes taught by Avenues students, faculty, and staff.

SOCIAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Expanding access to an Avenues education

We celebrate diversity and seek to build a student body representative of the wider community. Through the Care social scholarship program, we provide substantial financial aid (covering up to 98% of tuition) to students for whom an Avenues education would be otherwise inaccessible.

STUDENT-LED INITIATIVES

Supporting students to make a social impact

We support students to develop their own social and environmental initiatives to help address issues in the local community. In these local efforts, students develop the skills and qualities of a world-wise leader: communication, problem solving, organization, advocacy, and compassion.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT FELLOWSHIP

Cultivating community partnerships

Through the Avenues Community Engagement Fellowship, we partner with social entrepreneurs and organizations working for positive social and environmental change. Fellows join our community and work with students on powerfully authentic service learning projects.

GROUPS AND ACTIVITIES

Fostering deep connections across the community

As a community, we come together throughout the school year to advocate for a cause, celebrate success, express culture, and participate in annual traditions.

Student Ambassadors

Our student ambassadors make us proud. They represent Avenues in a range of important contexts, from giving campus tours to families considering Avenues to welcoming new students to campus during orientation.

Avenues Parent Association (APA)

The APA is an essential component of our community, strengthening connections between home and school, hosting events, and helping new families settle into life in São Paulo.

Celebrations and annual traditions

We compete in sports, showcase creative talents, and come together to honor the richness of our community in annual traditions, such as the Brazilian cultural celebration of Festa Junina.
