Peter joined Avenues in 2018 as chief experience officer. He is responsible for ensuring an exceptional experience for Avenues families—both prospective and those already enrolled—through the leadership of the marketing, branding, creative, communications, admissions and enrollment management functions.
Peter is an experienced strategic marketing executive with a 30-year track record of success specializing in brand strategy, global marketing, product development and customer experience. He spent the bulk of his career in global roles at American Express where he quickly advanced through the organization, filling a variety of senior marketing, new product development and brand management roles. This included serving as the chief marketing officer of American Express’s global network business and as the head of global brand management in which he led the development of a new brand strategy and successfully managed its deployment across business units around the world.
Most recently before joining Avenues, Peter founded and operated Vaughn Advisory Group providing brand strategy, marketing, customer experience and organizational effectiveness counsel to entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders—helping drive improved business and philanthropic outcomes for his clients. During this time, he worked with a variety of commercial, non-profit and education organizations across the US.
Peter, who comes from a long line of educators, earned his B.A. degree from Brown University and his M.B.A. from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. He serves on the Board of Directors of Vail Resorts, Inc. and the Board of Trustees of Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology in Queens, NY.
