Although Avenues’ first priority is to provide an exceptional education to the students it serves, it also has a number of broader educational and community-based missions.
Avenues provides financial aid for students and families to increase the diversity of our community by attracting students of need from all backgrounds. This permanent, ongoing program began at Avenues New York and will continue to expand with the opening of Avenues São Paulo.
Service to our community began with hundreds of job opportunities associated with the construction of our campus. In its first year, Avenues São Paulo employed over 200 faculty and staff members. Our 40,000-square-meter facility is open to the São Paulo community for programs and events. Community service is an integral part of Avenues’ curriculum and school culture.
Avenues’ leadership team is interested in advancing education worldwide – not just within the walls of its own campuses, but for all students. The goals of our research efforts include more effective pedagogy, higher student outcomes, better rewards for teachers and more effective use of technology.
Two aspects of Avenues’ plan enhance the ability to make such contributions. First, an advantage of our model of “one school, many campuses” is that its scale enables ongoing, well-funded research and development. Second, Avenues’ research and development efforts draw upon the highly diverse nature of its faculty and students. The school is uniquely positioned to identify and build upon educational breakthroughs from the many cultures represented within the learning community. The ability to disseminate these innovations will be enhanced as Avenues’ global footprint grows.
