Humanitarian Relief to Fight Hunger
Phase 2, October 2021
How to Donate
Visit our Sharity campaign page to donate using a credit card, PIX or boleto. Food baskets funded through this campaign will be distributed to Avenues São Paulo's community engagement partners to support local at-risk families.
Campaign goal: 1.800 baskets
What?
Our target is 1,800 baskets, allowing us to support hungry families in neighboring Jardim Panorama during November, December and January 2022. This follows June’s successful campaign, which raised 600 baskets.
Why?
Hunger continues at record levels, according to IBGE surveys, and our Jardim Panorama neighbors alerted us to the ongoing food crisis faced by many local families. Schools were a key source of meals for children, yet many schools have a shorter school day and/or children have dropped out during the pandemic. Meanwhile, donations have slowed, yet local unemployment remains high, exacerbating the food crisis.
Who?
Acknowledging this humanitarian crisis, Avenues: The World School, represented by the São Paulo, New York and Online campuses and our community of parents and students (Avenues Parent Association), understands that it is necessary to act. As our mission says, "we will share our prosperity with those who need it… in ways that leap the walls of our campuses."
These emergency food baskets will be distributed in partnership with UniãoSP, a civil society initiative that seeks to combat the social challenges caused by the pandemic of COVID-19. Following a grass-roots survey to assess local needs, the food baskets raised by this campaign will be distributed to families facing hunger in Jardim Panorama and other partners that support people suffering with food insecurity.
