Nancy Schulman

Founder of Avenues Early Learning Center

Nancy Schulman is one of the country’s most prominent and highly regarded early childhood educators, leaders and authors. A founding member of the Avenues The World School leadership team, she served as the head of the Early Learning Center at Avenues New York from 2012 to 2022. In that decade, Nancy was also instrumental in the establishment of early childhood programs at Avenues campuses in São Paulo, Shenzhen, and Silicon Valley. Under her leadership, Avenues’ early childhood program has developed into one of the most respected in the world.

Before joining the founding team of Avenues, Nancy was the director of the prestigious 92nd Street Y Nursery School from 1990 to 2011. She began her career in education at Horace Mann School in New York, where she served as teacher and admissions director from 1973 to 1990. Nancy received a B.S. in elementary education from Syracuse University and an M.A. in early childhood and elementary education from New York University. She is the co-author of Practical Wisdom for Parents: Demystifying the Preschool Years (Knopf, July 2007).
