The Deans Program
At Avenues, the Deans are full-time counselors dedicated to promoting the social-emotional well-being and academic success of students from 6th to 12th grade. They provide individualized support, guide students through the transition from childhood to adolescence, and prepare them for the future, whether that path leads to university or other opportunities. Working closely with teachers and families, they serve as a vital link between all parties.
In the Middle Grades (6th to 8th grade), the focus is on developing organizational skills, time management, empathy, and a sense of community, along with discussions about behavior and well-being. In the Upper Grades (9th to 12th grade), Deans support students with academic decisions, strengthen their argumentative skills, assist with the college application process, and encourage reflections on the legacy they wish to leave.
Beyond emotional and academic support, the Deans ensure students are appropriately challenged and receive the assistance they need, connecting them with specialists when necessary. From 9th to 12th grade, they provide comprehensive guidance for university admissions in Brazil and abroad. As a result of this personalized support, our graduates have been accepted to prestigious institutions such as Princeton, Columbia, University of Pennsylvania, USP, UNICAMP, FGV, among others.
At Avenues, the Deans help every student build a strong foundation for academic achievement and personal growth.
