Early Learning Center and Language Immersion

What Makes Up The Early Learning Center

50/50 Language Immersion Model

At Avenues, learning a second language is more than an academic pursuit; it is a daily practice that transforms the way students see and think about the world. From Small World to 5th grade, students 50% in English and 50% in Mandarin or Spanish.

Play-Based Learning

Tactile play develops fine and gross motor skills, physical play stimulates growth, and make-believe play accelerates social-emotional learning. Most importantly for us, all kinds of play foster a love of learning that young children will carry with them as they move upwards through school.

Social-Emotional Wellbeing

At Avenues, our early childhood program begins by gently guiding students through the process of healthy separation from caregivers, setting the stage for the development of critical self-help skills. With personalized support from dedicated teachers, our youngest learners.

Inquiry-Led Learning

Through joyful, hands-on exploration, our STEAM and World Course activities—from cooking and gardening to music and crafts—invite children to observe closely, ask questions, and nurture their natural curiosity.

Award-Winning Facilities

Our beautiful early childhood facility was designed in consultation with Avenues faculty to provide safe and stimulating spaces for different kinds of learning and play. These include a fully landscaped outdoor playground, movement spaces, a teaching kitchen, and more.

Here how his immersion journey prepared him for academic life in Spain and beyond.

“My brain just works how it works"— discovering confidence in immersion”

Hinata, now a 5th grader at Avenues, began her journey in immersion in the Early Learning Center. In this video, she shares how Chinese has become a powerful way to connect with others—especially when diving into her favorite subject, science.

"Now he can articulate his thoughts in Chinese perfectly"

Meet Michelle, mom of a current 2nd grader, worried her son might lose his Chinese language and cultural connection in school. Instead, she’s watched him flourish—growing more confident in both his Mandarin and his Chinese identity.
