WHAT YOU’LL DO

Avenues is seeking a Lower Division Operations Manager to join us on the New York Campus. The Operations Manager ensures that all operational aspects of the Lower Division function at a very high level, smoothly and efficiently, for students and teachers to do their best work.  S/he nurtures an operations culture that is relentlessly focused on high-quality service and communication, as well as continually improving the experience of teachers and families. S/he works closely with the campus wide service team (operations, nursing, security, facilities, extended learning, food and more) to ensure all services in the Lower Division are of the highest quality. S/he builds and continuously refines flawless systems that enable faculty and leadership to focus on teaching and learning. 

As the Lower Division Operations Manager you will:

  • Ensure that school operations are smooth and efficient, including continually solving problems and improving our operational systems around substitute teachers/coverages, facilities management, student safety, pick up and drop off, etc. 
  • Develop and execute an annual work plan and playbook for Lower Division operations
  • Be responsible for project planning, management, and execution including standardized testing, field trips, event preparation, etc.
  • Maintain Financial Stewardship of the Lower Division non-personnel budget
  • Work closely with and manage the Operations Coordinator in the Lower Division

WHAT YOU’LL BRING 

  • 3+ years of experience in operations in a school or education setting; teaching experience strongly preferred

  • The ability to plan, design, and manage operational systems
  • Sense of deep personal responsibility for the organization's success; rolls up sleeves to get the job done and gets the right work done even amidst ambiguity
  • Insanely organized in systems and personal organization; strong project manager
  • Ability to lead effectively through relationships, persuasion, and influence
  • Strong written and verbal communication, bilingual Spanish/Chinese speaking ability is a plus
  • Thrives in a collaborative environment
