Cristine Marie Tedeschi Conforti has dedicated herself with steadfast enthusiasm to education since her undergraduate studies in Literature at UNESP. She began her career as a Portuguese teacher in the Secondary Division of Colégio Santa Cruz, where she remained until 2017.
Alongside her work as an educator, she has continually pursued academic achievements by completing a post-graduation course in communications and semiotics at São Paulo’s Pontifícia Universidade Católica (PUC), a master’s degree and a doctorate in Education at the Faculty of Education at University of São Paulo (USP), Campus São Paulo. She has also participated in exchange visits to Germany and Switzerland, and specialization courses at Harvard Graduate School of Education and at Saint Edward’s University, Austin, both in the United States. She has published several books, taught courses and lectures, all linked to the issue of creative writing and language learning and the importance of teaching and learning practices that encourage this production.
As a teacher of literature and writing at Colégio Santa Cruz, Cristine had a lasting impact on her students. She embraced innovation and her own passion for the written word to inspire her students. After 20 years of teaching and leading college preparation, Cristine transitioned to leadership and became director of Santa Cruz’s elementary school. In 2000, she developed and opened the school’s first early childhood program.
In 2010, Cristine became the director of teaching and learning, and vice-general director at Santa Cruz. In this role, she lead a school-wide alignment initiative and professional development programs, as part of her ongoing commitment to cultivating an appreciation for knowledge.
As an educator, Cristine has inspired and motivated students while encouraging creativity and authorship. Her parallel study of music, the arts and languages have also been essential to her growth as an educator.
At Avenues, Cristine leads the Brazilian program. In partnership with the rest of the leadership team, she intends to develop the program as a model of for innovation, as well as sustainable, intercultural and interdisciplinary educational design.
