An expert in language immersion with a passion for teaching, Angela will join the Avenues Shenzhen team after six years at the Avenues New York campus. Angela was a founding faculty member when the campus first opened in 2012 and joined as a head kindergarten teachers. Two years later she was promoted to the role of immersion coordinator for grades nursery through 5th grade. In this role, Angela is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Chinese immersion program, curriculum and student assessment and supporting the professional development of Chinese language teachers. She was also the director of Avenues’ summer immersion camp in the very first year.
Prior to joining Avenues, Angela was a classroom teacher for nearly a decade. She taught students ranging from nursery through 10th grade in a variety of school settings in Hong Kong, Delaware and New York. She was also an instructional lead and master teacher for the STARTALK program at the National Foreign Language Institute in Delaware.
Outside of work, Angela enjoys writing children’s books. Her story, The Hungry Dragon, was presented at the Museum of Chinese in America and she has been a frequent storyteller at Barnes and Noble.
Angela earned her bachelor’s degree from the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics and her master of arts degree in teaching from Union Graduate College in Schenectady, New York. Angela is thrilled to be moving to Shenzhen with her husband, Andy, and their two young children.
