Collaboration here isn't a buzzword: it's woven into everything we do. Teachers plan in both disciplinary and interdisciplinary learning in teams. Teachers meet regularly to discuss students and strategize for their success together. 



Avenues is seeking a Learning Specialist to join the team of inspiring educators in the Upper Division, grades 6-9. This Learning Specialist will work primarily with students and teachers in grades 6-9 to ensure that students have the skills and support they need to be successful in our academic program. 


The Learning Specialist’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Student Support
    • Differentiate, supplement, and extend classroom instruction for individual and small groups of students across subject areas
    • Provide coaching in academic, social emotional, and behavioral skills
    • Guide students to analyze and improve their study methods and habits
    • Case manage student records including maintaining individualized learning plans
    • Provide timely and actionable feedback on learning goals to students, families, and faculty
  • Collaboration
    • Work in partnership with faculty, deans, school psychologist, and Associate Division Heads to ensure that each student is progressing in his/her academic skills
    • Work in partnership with students, families, divisional leadership, and faculty to develop learning plans and accommodations for students with identified needs
    • Collaborate with faculty and staff to differentiate instruction and implement the supports and accommodations on a student’s learning plan


  • At least 5 years of teaching experience in grades 9-12, with a proven track record of student learning
  • Strong understanding of instructional and intervention skills 
  • Highly effective collaborator, eager to listen deeply, contribute to a team and achieve goals together
  • Deep dedication to learning and growing as an educator
  • Eager to embrace change and consider new perspectives
  • Graduate degree in education, teaching, or a related field
