Meet Todd Shy, Curriculum Specialist for Middle School Humanities
November 4th, 2011 - Todd Shy will serve as curriculum specialist for Middle School humanities, working over the next year to develop the humanities curriculum for grades five through eight. In addition to working closely with the curriculum specialist for the World Course, Todd will integrate history, literature and writing into the Middle School curriculum. Since 1998, Todd has been working at Cary Academy (Cary, NC), where he has taught world history, English and humanities to seventh graders. More...

Why me? Why Avenues?
September 29th, 2011 - At the parents’ welcome event in late July, I was struck by how excited parents were to meet a real live Avenues teacher. “Tell us about yourself!” they asked; but the implicit question was, “Why were you hired to teach here?” How did I embody the mission and values of this unique school? September 23rd, 2011 - As the leadership team at Avenues took shape last fall and we met for successive planning retreats on Saturdays through the winter, we discussed, among many other things, the type of faculty culture we hoped to create, not only at our Chelsea campus but also at all future campuses abroad. Meet our first two faculty members
September 19th, 2011 - Faculty hiring for the Avenues: New York campus for fall 2012 is well underway, with 14 faculty hired for fall 2012 and pending offers to a dozen or so more. So far, we have received approximately 1200 resumes for the 180 faculty positions at the school, and we receive more each day.
