Alicia Christian

Alicia Christian will be joining Avenues as the school nurse. A registered nurse, she comes to us from Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN, where she worked in a neuro/trauma intensive care unit. She delicately blends her clinical knowledge with a nurturing and sensitive demeanor in meeting the health care needs of children.

Alicia recently graduated from the University of Evansville in Indiana, with a bachelor of science in nursing. There she gained clinical experience with kindergarten through eighth grade students as a school nurse at Glenwood Leadership Academy. She provided medical assistance to students, maintained immunization records and organized a campus health fair.

Alicia has also provided pediatric treatment for children aged two to five at Methodist Temple Childcare (Evansville, IN). Since 2008, she has worked as a student nurse in close collaboration with registered nurses at Deaconess Hospital (also in Evansville). In addition, Alicia has volunteered her time as a community student nurse at the University of Evansville to educate adolescents about safe sex practices.

Alicia’s educational career started in the theater, and she received an associate’s degree in musical theater from American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. After graduation, she toured nationally, performed regionally, helped create several theater workshops and did some Off-Broadway productions. She did an episode of Rescue Me, with Dennis Leary. Her entertainment career also included TV series pilots, allowing her to work with a number of well-known TV and movie actors.

Alicia says she knew as a child that nursing was an additional passion. “The art of compassion is so vital when taking care of an individual,” she says. “I’ve always had a love for people and expressing my love by singing or lending a hand has always been second nature. So for me, nursing is my other artistic outlet because I can show kindness and love through my knowledge and experience in caring for others not only in the hospital, but now in the school setting.”

Alicia is moving to New York and is thrilled to provide medical care and education to the Avenues community.
