Avenues São Paulo will follow a Northern Hemisphere calendar, beginning in August, with recesses scheduled during the northern and southern hemisphere summers. American and Brazilian national holidays will be observed.
There is no single profile of an Avenues student. Avenues expects to cultivate a student community diverse in interest, talent and background, and the application process is designed to assess all these aspects equally. Above all, Avenues seeks students who can thrive in a rigorous and creative learning environment.
Applications will only be processed for the 2018–19 academic year for nursery to 10th grade. Families interested in applying for future years are encouraged to fill out our online inquiry form here.
Personal recommendations are not required, nor are they encouraged. Each applicant will be assessed according to the requirements stated above and the materials listed on the website.
Families who apply through our early admissions program are given priority consideration for admissions. Additionally, Avenues will make every effort to give special consideration to families seeking early admission for more than one child for the 2018–19 school year.
Beyond the early admissions program, each student will be given an equal opportunity for acceptance in the opening year. In subsequent years, Avenues will give special consideration to siblings of currently enrolled students to help foster a strong sense of community within the school.
As with other private schools in São Paulo, our complete schedule of tuition and fees for the 2018-19 school year will be published in March of 2018. For planning purposes, the tuition and technology fees for 2017-18 are available here.
Avenues does not offer a discount on tuition and fees for families with multiple children enrolled.
Consistent with our mission and vision, Avenues São Paulo will allocate a portion of its resources to providing financial assistance to qualifying families on the basis of financial need. Our financial aid program, which will incorporate relevant local partners and institutions, is currently in development. Details of the program will be announced by October 2017.
In Lower Primary (nursery through 1st grade), students are not expected to be fluent in English and will gain proficiency in English through our 100% English language immersion program. In 2nd grade and above, a minimum grade-level English fluency requirement must be met to enroll at the planned Avenues São Paulo. This will be measured by a language proficiency test and determined by the admissions team. In some cases, students will be accepted contingent upon them gaining the necessary proficiency prior to enrollment. Once enrolled, English Language Support (ELS) will be available at all grade levels to support students whose first language is not English.
The Avenues student body will reflect a wide range of social, cultural and geographic backgrounds. Our emphasis on independent study will attract students with a wide range of personal interests, talents and passions.
